Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated:
1. Who controls your data
Ascend is a self-development application and website operated by Marco Fiel Caparas in the Philippines. For privacy questions or requests, email customer@ascendapp.ai.
2. Scope
This policy applies to ascendapp.ai, the Ascend mobile app, and the backend services used to provide them. It explains the current launch configuration. A feature described as conditional does not process that category of data unless the feature is enabled and used.
3. Data we collect
- Website waitlist data: the email address and Android or iOS preference you submit, the form location, campaign and source parameters attached to your visit, and a record of your consent to the waitlist policy.
- Account and profile data: email address, Supabase authentication identifiers, profile details, settings, time zone, and a profile image if you add one.
- Self-development content: onboarding answers, goals, plans, quests, focus-session activity, skill and XP progress, journal entries, moods, reports, companion preferences and interactions, and proof text or media you choose to submit.
- Service and security data: request identifiers, operation and audit records, feature configuration, error information, and ordinary server or hosting logs used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
- Access and subscription metadata: entitlement status, product identifiers, purchase and renewal state, and store transaction references when paid features are enabled. RevenueCat and the app stores process payment activity; Ascend does not receive your full payment-card number.
- Notification data, only when enabled: notification preferences and a device push-subscription identifier. Notifications are disabled in the current launch configuration.
The public website does not currently use optional product analytics or advertising trackers. It loads web fonts from Google Fonts. Cloudflare, Google, and other infrastructure providers may receive ordinary request information such as an IP address, browser details, and timestamps when serving the site. Essential operational logs are not the same as optional product analytics.
4. Why we use data
- to record waitlist consent and send launch or founding-cohort information requested by the subscriber;
- to create and secure an account, save progress, generate plans, run requested app features, and provide support;
- to calculate access status and, if purchases are later enabled, process and reconcile subscription events;
- to prevent abuse, diagnose failures, protect accounts, and maintain reliable service; and
- to comply with law and handle valid rights, safety, or legal requests.
Depending on the activity and applicable law, processing is based on your consent, steps you request before using Ascend, performance of the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing Ascend, or compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent for consent-based processing, but withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
5. AI-assisted features
Ascend uses deterministic fallbacks and can use configured third-party AI services for specific features. When a live AI feature is enabled and you request it, the task-relevant instructions and user content needed for that request, together with the generated response and limited technical metadata, may be sent to the configured AI provider. Ascend does not have a pipeline that trains its own AI models on user content. We do not make an unqualified promise about a third-party provider's independent use of data beyond the terms and configuration that apply to that provider.
AI output is guidance, may be incomplete or incorrect, and should be reviewed by you. Ascend does not use AI output to make decisions that produce legal, medical, employment, credit, or similarly significant effects.
6. When data is shared
We disclose only the data reasonably needed for the service or a valid legal purpose. Current or conditional processors include:
- Supabase for authentication, database, private file storage, and server functions;
- Cloudflare for website hosting, delivery, DNS, and security;
- Google Fonts to deliver the website's font files;
- configured AI providers only for a live AI feature that is enabled and requested;
- RevenueCat and Apple or Google only for subscription and store functions when those functions are enabled; and
- OneSignal only if notifications are enabled and you choose to receive them.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or to establish or defend legal claims. Ascend does not currently use personal data for third-party advertising or share it with advertising networks.
7. Retention and deletion
Waitlist records are kept while needed to manage the waitlist and launch communications, or until a valid removal request is completed. Account data is kept while the account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve security or support issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Retention can vary by category; this policy does not promise a single deletion deadline for all production systems, processor systems, or backups.
Ascend provides authenticated account export and deletion controls in Settings. Both actions require confirmation of the current account password. An export creates a temporary private JSON download with signed links for user media. A confirmed deletion request queues removal of the Ascend authentication account, user-owned database records, and private stored files, and blocks new account mutations while deletion is pending. Limited records may remain where required for security, legal obligations, or legal claims, and processors may retain records under their applicable terms or legal duties.
8. Security
Ascend uses encrypted network connections, authenticated server functions, database row-level access controls, private storage buckets, expiring signed file links, and access restrictions for operational jobs. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or data is at risk, contact us promptly.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to be informed, access personal data, object or withdraw consent, correct inaccurate data, request erasure or blocking, obtain portable data, and file a complaint. In-app export and deletion are available as described above. You can also ask to remove a waitlist address or make another privacy request by emailing customer@ascendapp.ai. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where a lawful exception applies.
People in the Philippines may learn about data-subject rights or complaint procedures from the National Privacy Commission.
10. International processing
Service providers may process data in countries outside the Philippines. Where applicable, we remain responsible for selecting providers and using contractual, technical, or organizational safeguards appropriate to the processing.
11. Children
Ascend is not designed for children. A person who cannot legally consent to these terms and this processing must use Ascend only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian where permitted by law. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal data without valid authorization should contact us.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the service or its data practices change. The current version and effective date will be posted here. If a change materially affects how existing personal data is used, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
